It was 9 miles of gravel road to get to Castle Dome City, I began to worry there was nothing out there as we continued to drive and drive, we could see nothing but desert. We finally arrived, the fellow that owned the mine and town of Castle Dome was from South Dakota and his assistant was from Green Bay, we also ran into another couple that were there also from Algoma (it is a small world) We did the tour of the Ghost town which was very interesting. We spent about 3 hours seeing all the buildings and artifacts. We kept seeing this purple glass everywhere and found out in the 1800's they doped the glass with magnesium to make it clear, but after long exposure to the sun it would turn purple.
